Ron was born in Reno, Nevada, but was raised in the East Bay Area. He attended UC Davis and graduated there in 2011 with a degree in Psychology.

He has been umpiring at various levels of baseball for 14 seasons now (Little League->Pacific Association Baseball [Independent Professional Baseball]) and just recently was added to 3 Collegiate Umpire groups within Northern California. He has taken the umpiring profession very seriously and handles himself in some of the highest levels of professionalism on and off the field.
